China News Agency, June 30 (Reporter Tan Chang) "If from the perspective of the world economy, as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, John K.C. Lee said, the GDP of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is comparable to the world's tenth largest economy." Hong Kong’s unique talent is to be good at integrating different things, people and industries.”
At the annual meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and ASEAN Economics held in Hong Kong on the 30th, many participants affirmed the development potential of Hong Kong and even the Greater Bay Area to the China News Agency reporter.
On the same day, more than 500 government officials, business leaders and experts and scholars from the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN member countries discussed cross-border cooperation and regional prosperity, covering important issues such as innovation and technology, supply chain resilience, corporate financing and “going to sea” strategies. Nicolas de Loisy, from France, has been living in Hong Kong for nearly 30 years as the president of both companies, SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT OUTSOURCE (SCMO) focusing on logistics consulting and GLOBAL FUTURE NEXUS focusing on AGI (general artificial intelligence). In his view, one of Hong Kong’s core competitiveness is its “super-connector” role: “Hong Kong is committed to playing the role of various centers organically, promoting the common development of the business community and society, and can also successfully integrate different things, people and industries, and maintain a unique position in China and even in the world.”
Nicolas told reporters that Hong Kong has now surpassed Switzerland and ranks first in the world in wealth management. In addition, logistics services in Hong Kong are also strong, and his company, SCMO, has focused on consulting services such as logistics, transportation and supply chain management, and has now been established for 27 years.
In addition to traditional advantageous industries such as finance and logistics, the complete physical industrial system and scale advantages of the Greater Bay Area have also become the core highlights of attracting the layout of multinational enterprises and deepening ASEAN cooperation, and the industry is optimistic about the growth space of regional manufacturing and trade cooperation.
"The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has great potential to do more business and promote the development of the manufacturing industry." Today, many small manufacturing industries are changing to large-scale, with strong momentum, and the Greater Bay Area is a very strong financial cluster, manufacturing cluster, and technology and research and development center.” Anson Bailey, head of the retail consumer goods industry at KPMG Asia Pacific, said.
Anson also pointed out that many people in the industry often say that Hong Kong is a “super contact person.” He believes that for capital, people and manufacturing resources, Hong Kong is a perfect gateway, through Hong Kong to connect mainland China and other regions such as ASEAN, the mainland's production capacity, markets and other industries with ASEAN's fast-growing economy, to serve the two-way demand of both sides.
At the same time, the digital economy and financial technology are becoming the new track of regional cooperation. Some people engaged in the stablecoin and digital asset industry interviewed pointed out that although the current development speed of Hong Kong and the United States and Europe is still far away, the Legislative Council has already passed the stablecoin bill, and continue to promote industry management, this year also issued the first batch of stablecoin issuer license; I believe that through multi-party cooperation with ASEAN and the Greater Bay Area, it will help tap the potential of regional integration and promote the development of the industry.
As an important hub for China's foreign economic and trade exchanges and regional cooperation, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is continuing to become a key hub of the global market with its huge economic volume, complete industrial system and open business environment. As a "super contact", Hong Kong also gives more possibilities for the two-way journey between the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN with the advantages of unique location, system and internationalization advantages.
