Cyrus Cheung (FCPA, FCPA (Aust), CESGA®) is a prominent Hong Kong-based corporate executive, sustainability expert, and certified public accountant. He currently serves as the Director of Strategic Finance & Operations at New World Development Company Limited, one of Hong Kong's major real estate and conglomerate holdings. With over two decades of professional experience spanning capital markets and corporate assurance, Cheung has established himself as a central figure in accelerating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance across Asia.
Cheung laid his foundational academic roots at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Accounting. Committed to driving corporate sustainability, he furthered his executive training at the University of Cambridge, focusing on Business Sustainability Management. He began his professional corporate journey in September 2006 when he joined the global professional services network PwC Hong Kong as an assurance specialist, a tenure that would define the next twenty years of his career.
Through his rapid trajectory within PwC, Cheung was promoted to Partner in July 2019, specializing in ESG Advisory, Assurance, and Green Finance reporting. During his extensive time with the firm, he played a vital role in over ten high-profile initial public offering (IPO) capital market transactions, most notably directing corporate disclosure strategies for the massive Budweiser IPO in 2019. His sector expertise expanded across real estate, large-scale infrastructure, and mega-conglomerates seeking to maximize institutional value through sustainable business architectures.
In addition to his corporate execution, Cheung is a highly sought-after industry policymaker. In January 2026, he achieved a major career milestone upon being appointed the Divisional President of CPA Australia Greater China. Concurrently, he serves as the Chairman of the Sustainability Committee for the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). In these industry-wide leadership capacities, he has designed and delivered over 100 professional training masterclasses and workshops, directly standardizing green finance metrics, net-zero pathway commitments, and climate risk accounting across Hong Kong's financial ecosystem.
After an impactful two-decade tenure at PwC, Cheung transitioned directly into corporate leadership in July 2026 by taking on his current operational role at New World Development.
