Cliff L. Cheung (張亮航) is an eminent private equity pioneer, institutional asset allocator, and hospitality venture builder who serves as the Chairman of InterLeader Capital Limited. Boasting more than 35 years of high-stakes investment experience across the United States and the Asia-Pacific corridor, Cheung stands as a foundational architect of Asia's modern alternative asset landscape. From his operational base in Hong Kong, he directs the firm’s proprietary capital allocations and co-investment syndicates, steering premium private equity, real estate, and special situation deployments throughout Greater China.

Cheung’s rigorous academic foundations were built at the University of Hong Kong, where he completed his undergraduate studies from 1980 to 1983. Deeply committed to lifelong executive optimization, he later returned to academia to sharpen his multi-market management frameworks, earning a prestigious Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA between 2004 and 2005. Armed with this dual framework of deep localized knowledge and Western corporate governance, he established a track record for translating complex cross-border financial frictions into highly profitable institutional entry points.

The definitive chapter of Cheung’s institutional legacy was forged during his stellar twenty-year tenure at PAMA Group (originally Prudential Asia), where he rose to become a key shareholder, Managing Director, and Chief Investment Officer (CIO). As one of Asia's longest-established and largest private equity juggernauts, established in 1986 by The Prudential Insurance Company of America, PAMA deployed approximately $1.3 billion across more than 100 high-growth companies spanning 11 countries. Operating at the helm of this multi-market capital runway, Cheung took an active, hands-on role in corporate transformation, steering investee companies toward successful public exits by embedding himself directly onto their boards and operational management committees.

In 2006, capitalizing on his vast regional reputation, Cheung transitioned from institutional fund management to independent venture scaling by founding InterLeader Capital. Under his leadership, the firm built a highly dynamic investment architecture, leveraging an international open platform to lead co-investments alongside high-net-worth family offices and global institutions. Expanding his investment horizon beyond equity buyouts, Cheung leveraged his strategic acumen to co-found ONE Niseko and ONE@Tokyo—two highly acclaimed luxury boutique hotels in Japan designed in collaboration with the world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma—proving his capacity to cross-pollinate alternative capital with premium real estate and hospitality design.

Today, operating out of his corporate offices on Wyndham Street in Central, Cheung remains a central pillar of the East Asian financial establishment. He holds a professional charter as a CFA charterholder and actively advances regional industry governance, having served as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (HKVCA) and as a critical member of the Listing Committee for the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Through his dual leadership at InterLeader Capital and his executive directorship at QuestMark Capital Management, Cheung continues to dictate the future of regional capital deployment, structuring premium cross-border corridors that connect global allocators with high-yield opportunities.
