Vinod Kumar Sehgal is a highly distinguished international maritime executive, marine engineer, and corporate leader with over four decades of global shipping industry experience. Renowned for his expertise in technical ship operations and cross-border team management, he serves as the CEO and Managing Director of SeaQuest Shipmanagement Ltd. in Hong Kong. In this capacity, he directs global technical operations, crew management, and maritime consultancy services, successfully bridging logistics pipelines across major hubs in Europe and Asia.
Sehgal’s foundational technical acumen was forged through rigorous field experience as a Class 1 Chief Engineer. His early career at sea provided him with hands-on mastery over complex vessel mechanics and industrial safety standards, paving the way for his transition into executive leadership. Over more than 28 years in senior international ship management roles, he has overseen the operations, budgeting, and safety systems of diverse merchant fleets—encompassing bulk carriers, container ships, tankers, and Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels totaling over 5 million deadweight tonnage (DWT) for prominent owners across Greece, Singapore, Japan, and China.
A pivotal chapter of his executive career solidified in May 2021, when he was selected to establish and lead SeaQuest Shipmanagement's brand new Far East technical operation office in Hong Kong. Leveraging Hong Kong's position as a premier global banking and maritime center, Sehgal built a robust local service center from the ground up to aggressively expand the firm's presence in an extremely competitive Asian market. Under his direct guidance, the firm successfully navigated major international gridlocks and dry-docking milestones while scaling up its operational fleet.
Beyond day-to-day corporate governance, Sehgal is recognized as an authoritative voice on global maritime decarbonization and regulatory compliance. He frequently contributes his insights to high-level regional dialogues—such as key merchant forums during Hong Kong Maritime Week—where he champions cross-border trust and dialogue to resolve disputes arising from diverging international carbon taxes. Committed to lifelong learning, he is an alumnus of executive programs at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Harvard Business School CORe program, and maintains professional fellowships with the Institute of Marine Engineers.
In tandem with his industrial impact, Sehgal is deeply dedicated to regional philanthropy and community leadership within the Greater Bay Area.
