Prof. Wang Huaxiong is a highly distinguished computer scientist, mathematician, and academic leader globally recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of cryptology and information security. Currently serving as the President's Chair Professor in Cryptology at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, his work underpins the mathematical foundations of modern secure communications. Throughout his career, he has successfully bridged deep theoretical research with critical, real-world security applications that protect digital infrastructure, public-key ecosystems, and data privacy frameworks globally.

His academic journey is rooted in a rare combination of advanced mathematics and computational science disciplines. Professor Wang holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Haifa, Israel, which he completed in 1996, alongside a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wollongong, Australia, earned in 2001. This cross-disciplinary doctoral foundation allowed him to approach modern cryptography from both a rigorous algebraic perspective and a practical algorithmic standpoint.

Before establishing his long-term tenure in Singapore, Professor Wang cultivated a diverse international research profile through multiple prestigious global appointments. He held academic and research positions at Macquarie University, the City University of Hong Kong, the National University of Singapore, and Kobe University in Japan. These roles allowed him to collaborate with top-tier international scientists, expanding his research scope across the Asia-Pacific region and solidifying his reputation within the global information security community.

Upon joining NTU Singapore in 2006, he quickly rose to key leadership positions, serving as the Head of the Division of Mathematical Sciences from 2013 to 2015. He has been instrumental in securing large-scale national research funding, currently serving as the Director of the Strategic Centre for Research in Privacy-Preserving Technologies & Systems (SCRIPTS). Additionally, he serves as the Co-Director of the National Centre for Research in Digital Trust (NCDT), where he guides national strategies on zero-knowledge proofs and secure multi-party computation.

Beyond theoretical research, Professor Wang is deeply committed to technological commercialization and global academic leadership. He co-founded HintSight Technology, an NTU spin-off dedicated to privacy-preserving neural networks that enable secure data collaboration without exposing raw information. His immense contributions culminated in March 2026, when he was elected a Fellow of the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), making him the first Singapore-based cryptographer to receive this prestigious lifetime honor.
