Syed Musheer Ahmed is a leading global fintech advocate, digital asset strategist, and ecosystem builder who has spent nearly two decades shaping the financial technology landscape across Asia and the Middle East. Originally from Bangalore, India, he trained as an engineer before embarking on a career in quantitative finance. He spent ten years working as a global markets trader, specializing in interest rates and commodities futures across India and Mauritius, giving him deep foundational expertise in capital markets.

Seeking to bridge the gap between traditional finance and emerging technology, he relocated to the region to earn an MBA from the HKU Business School in 2015. Following his graduation, he quickly transitioned into management consulting and emerged as a primary driver of Hong Kong's technology sector. Ahmed became a co-founder and the inaugural General Manager of the FinTech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK). In this influential role, he spearheaded the association's early growth into a massive network, championing industry education and setting up specialized committees for Artificial Intelligence and digital banking.

Leveraging his extensive network, Ahmed went on to found FinStep Asia, a venture-building, research, and advisory firm where he serves as Managing Partner. Through FinStep Asia, he focuses on digital banking strategy, RegTech, tokenization, and scaling fintech businesses cross-border. Passionate about international trade corridors, he also co-founded IndiaTech Hong Kong, an initiative specifically designed to connect and build investment bridges between the business ecosystems of India and the Greater Bay Area of China.

From late 2022 through early 2024, he brought his risk assurance expertise to the Middle East, serving on the foundational setup team for Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). Upon returning to East Asia, his regulatory contributions expanded into sustainable finance when he joined the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Innovation Hub in Hong Kong as an external advisor, contributing to high-level digital cash and green finance frameworks like Project Aurum.
