Literature & Culture Committee

  • DEFINITION: Explores and promotes cultural and literary works and discussions

  • PURPOSE: Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) presents humanity with an intrinsically complex and transformative relationship with literature. There is no doubt that AGI is bound to influence both the creative process and the way literary works are read and analyzed. At the present moment, AI seems to be limited to mimicking and augmenting human literary practices. However, the hypothetical advent of AGI surely raises more profound questions about the nature of authorship, creativity, and the very purpose of storytelling.

  • CREATION: 01.08.2025

"Literature in the Age of AGI": This online Committee meeting seeks to discuss this particular issue with those interested in this topic. Some of the fundamental questions the webinar is going to tackle are: Is the concept of literature and its definition still the same? What is exactly (un)ethical about using AI in the creative process? Who is the author of an AI-assisted piece of writing? Do we still need storytelling in the age of AI? What is the effect of AI on human imagination and fantasy? What will become of the critical analysis of literature using AI?
